A Fairytale Celebration in the heart of Yorkshire

We're delighted to feature our first ‘Real Wedding’ here at Williams Hart Weddings today with many thanks to the brilliance that is Steve Ramsden Photography who captured this gorgeous fairytale wedding last year.

And what a fairytale it was, Katie and Simon’s celebration had it all; a Sophia Tolli satin gown complete with chapel length train, cascading avalanche roses and portrait photographs on a huge wooden swing nestled in the woods.

Katie filled us in on the details...

“We really wanted a wedding full of personal touches that reflected us as a couple, so we arranged the wedding to be held at St Gregory’s Minster in Kirkdale, North Yorkshire where I had grown up.

We also added other personal touches including Simon’s love for football, which my sister (artist and illustrator) Amy Barnes cleverly worked into our stationery and my obsession with chocolate which influenced the colour scheme and cake!

We chose cream flowers to complement the theme, including lilies and avalanche roses from the extremely talented WP Horsley and the ‘jasper’ green Jim Hjelm bridesmaid dresses from Scarlet Poppy in Leeds worked perfectly as our accent colour with splashes throughout the day.

Our delicious wedding cake was created by Chocolart and was of course, chocolate! A simply gorgeous three tiered luxury chocolate cake layered with ganache throughout and adorned with truffles which we received loads of fantastic comments about it!

The fantastic 1952 Bentley Freestone & Webb was naturally perfect being in cream and black was from Superior Motor Cars.

My Sophia Tolli, Corali dress was from Angel Brides in Horsforth, Leeds; a satin strapless sweetheart gown with a chapel length train with matching beaded and embroidered lace embellishments.

The other thing that was really important to us was that all our guests had a great time, so we picked our venue to make sure there was plenty of space to keep everyone happy! The Old Lodge in Malton was a perfect choice, not only is it a gorgeous building with all the space we needed, it also has an amazing reputation for fantastic food, not to mention fabulous grounds, complete with their own huge rustic wooden swing, perfect for photographs!

Simon and I made sure we arranged different areas at the venue where we knew our guests could enjoy themselves. From the amazing band, The Killing Times, who kept everyone dancing all night, to the chillout area and the space for children (complete with DVDs and beanbags). It was really important to us that we made sure everyone was enjoying themselves to the full, which we all certainly did.”

Huge thanks to Katie and Simon for sharing their ever-so-beautiful day with us, and to Steve Ramsden for capturing a real fairytale celebration.

'Love My Dress' have featured this gorgeous city wedding - planned with a little help from WHW

I had the absolute pleasure of working with one of my closest friends when I helped her plan her big day last year.

It was a beautiful city celebration with a vintage twist, it oozed style, charm and brightness; a true reflection of the gorgeous bride herself!

Being such a darn stunning wedding the photos were soon spotted by the lovely Annabel at top UK wedding blog Love My Dress who chose to feature it on her blog yesterday.

You can check out all the emotion and details from the day right now over at Love My Dress. The moments were all captured perfectly by the fantastically brilliant Lawson Photography.
